Villa Tau, just north of Ubud, is a relaxed and spacious 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom tropical villa. It has been decorated with a combination of modern furniture and Balinese art and antiques that combine to give it a quintessentially Balinese feel – but with all the modern amenities that our guests love. The villa has large open-plan living areas that flow seamlessly to the outdoors, where a private pool looks out over a beautiful view of the surrounding rice fields and you can enjoy the excellent weather that Bali offers year-round. We've also equipped the villa with a pool table, Smart TV and a dedicated coffee room complete with a Nespresso machine and a self-service bar fridge.
Location & Setting
Villa Tau is in Kenderan, Tegallalang, 6km north of Ubud – about 15 minutes from central Ubud. With easy access from the main road, Villa Tau is surrounded on three sides by beautiful rice fields. The iconic rice field photos of Bali are often shot in Tegallalang and Villa Tau's surroundings form part of this beauty.

C'était notre deuxième séjour dans la villa durant notre voyage à Bali : nous avons adoré cet endroit et décidé d'y fêter l'anniversaire de mon mari Tout était parfait, Ayu et son équipe ont été aux petits soins, se pliant en 4 pour nous faire plaisir, trouver ce que nous souhaitions manger, toujours prévenants et souriants. On s'est sentis complètement chez nous dans cette villa et si nous revenons un jour à Bali ce sera dans cette villa. Best place on earth !!

Villa Tau has incredible charm — spacious, cozy, beautifully maintained, and it perfectly matches the photos. You can feel that it has a real soul, not just designed for rent. The pool, the rice fields, the Balinese details... everything contributes to an authentic experience. Our 5-year-old son even made friends with the geckos!What really makes a difference: the staff. Dee is a standout host — smooth and fast communication. Ayu and the on-site team are very attentive, responsive, and discreet. Thanks to them, there were no material constraints and it was a 100% stay.The meals prepared on site are delicious, great value for money. The villa is a bit far from the center, but that's an advantage — calm and authenticity are guaranteed, and the center is accessible in a few minutes via Grab.We would recommend it without hesitation. A rare place.

This house succeeded every expectation… From the minute we arrived. It was peaceful perfection. Heaven on earth this paradise will not disappoint. My family of five were treated incredible by the whole staff and team! Anything we needed or asked, for we were helped with, the property is stunning, inside and outside was just the most beautiful villa ever! I can only hope I can return to this place sometime in the future… Do not hesitate to book this place - truly 15 stars out of 10!

This was an amazing find. We have the friendliest staff that were so helpful in any way. Shout-out to Ayu, she was so kind and helpful. I don’t want to leave her! The check in and out process was so smooth and anything we could have needed they were right there to assist. The food was great and fully stocked in snacks and drinks needed for our stay. This was very convenient as our stay was over the Nyepi holiday that the entire island shuts down for 24 hours. I would highly recommend to anyone staying in this area. Lovely luxury stay!

How far is Villa Tau from Ubud?
Villa Tau is situated in Kenderan, Tegallalang, about 6km north of Ubud — roughly a 15-minute drive to the town centre. On the way into town, you’ll pass one of Ubud’s premier shopping streets, just 7 minutes away, offering the same homeware goods found in central Ubud at better prices. The Tegallalang rice terraces are 15 minutes away, while Mount Batur (for the sunrise trek), Kintamani, and Besakih are all about 50 minutes away — closer than from any of our other villas.
How do we get to Villa Tau from the airport?
The drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport typically takes about an hour and a half to two hours, depending on traffic. Every guest is offered an airport transfer, and if you’re staying three nights or more, one pickup or drop-off is complimentary — your driver will be waiting when you land. If you’re splitting a stay of six nights or more between Villa Tau and one of our other villas, the transfer between them is complimentary too.
How many guests can Villa Tau sleep?
Up to eight, across four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Every bedroom has a king-size bed, and two of them, upstairs in the main house, can be separated into two three-quarter beds for children or friends. The nightly rate covers six guests, with a per-person supplement for the seventh and eighth — see the rates table above.
Is Villa Tau ours alone when we book?
Yes. Bookings are exclusive-use: the whole villa, the pool and the staff of four are yours for the length of your stay, and you never share with other guests.
What is included in the nightly rate?
Your nightly rate at Villa Tau includes daily breakfast, dedicated villa staff, daily housekeeping, tea and coffee, bottled water, and WiFi throughout the property. For lunch, dinner, and snacks, a reasonably priced à la carte menu is available on request. Government tax of 11% and 5% service charge apply.
Is Villa Tau staffed?
Yes — Villa Tau has a team of 4 staff working in shifts to look after you throughout your stay. They handle daily housekeeping, prepare and cook your meals, and can arrange concierge services such as in-house spa treatments, massages, yoga on the lawn, and day trips with our drivers. A turn-down service is offered each evening, and staff are also happy to arrange babysitting on request. Generally, our team is there when you need them, and unobtrusive when you don’t.
Is Villa Tau self-catering? Can we cook our own food?
No — Villa Tau isn’t a self-catering property, so the kitchen isn’t set up for guests to cook, and cooking your own meals or bringing in outside food isn’t part of how we operate, much like a hotel. Meals are prepared by your villa staff from a reasonably priced à la carte menu featuring a wide variety of Indonesian and Western dishes, in addition to your included daily breakfast. Everyone can order their own dish. There’s no obligation to eat at the villa for every meal — Bali has excellent restaurants nearby if you’d prefer to explore. Drinks are available from self-service fridges on an honesty basis; our staff track what’s used and add it to your bill, and a cocktail menu is also available on request.
Can Villa Tau cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes — our kitchen team regularly caters for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free diets, as well as more serious food allergies. Just let us know your requirements when you arrive (or in advance, if you prefer), and we’ll work with you to make sure your meals are prepared safely and suit your needs.
Is Villa Tau suitable for children?
Yes — and families are very welcome. Travel cots and high chairs are complimentary, a car seat is available at a small extra charge, a babysitter can be arranged, and a pool fence can be organised at a reasonable cost if you would like one.
What is there to do at Villa Tau?
You may not need to leave at all — Villa Tau has its own infinity pool, a pool table, board games, and a Smart TV, plus a large flat garden with plenty of room to play. In-house spa treatments and massages can be arranged at any time, and yoga sessions take place right on the lawn.
What is there to do near Villa Tau?
There’s a lot on your doorstep — the Tegallalang rice terraces and Bali Swing (10–15 minutes), Ubud’s palace, art market and Monkey Forest (15 minutes), and the Mount Batur sunrise trek (under an hour), plus rice-field walks right from the villa to nearby temples and waterfalls.
